BEN HUNT WEDDINGS / Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
Who I am
This website is run by Ben Hunt, trading as Ben Hunt Weddings, a wedding photographer and videographer based in Birmingham, UK. I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact me at info@benhuntphotography.com.
What information I collect
When you send an enquiry or contact me, I collect the details you give me, such as your name, email address, phone number, wedding date, venue and any message you write. If you book me, I also keep the information needed to run your wedding: planning details, timings, contact details for you and your suppliers, and payment records.
Photographs and films I take at your wedding contain images of you, your family and your guests. These are personal data too, and I look after them in the same way.
I do not collect payment card details through this website.
How I use your information
I use your information to reply to your enquiry, check availability, prepare quotes and contracts, plan and deliver your photography and film, take payments, deliver your gallery and files, and keep the records I need for accounting and tax. I do not sell your information, and I do not use it for automated decision-making.
Legal basis
I process your information because it is needed to respond to your request or carry out a contract with you, because I have a legitimate interest in running my business and showing my work, because I must keep certain records by law, or, where I ask, because you have given your consent.
Sharing your work
I may share photographs and film from your wedding on my website, blog, social media and with other wedding suppliers or publications to promote my work, as agreed in your contract. If you would prefer that I do not, tell me and I will respect that. You can ask me to remove an image at any time.
Who I share information with
I only share your information with the services I use to run my business, and only as needed. These include my website host (Framer), email and calendar provider (Google), online gallery provider (Pic-Time), video hosting (YouTube and Vimeo), file storage and backup providers, and accounting and payment providers. Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where this happens, they use recognised safeguards for protecting data. I may also share information if the law requires it.
Cookies and analytics
This website may use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it is used. See the Cookie Policy for details. Embedded videos and maps from other sites may set their own cookies.
How long I keep your information
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for up to 12 months. Client records and contracts are kept for as long as needed to deliver your wedding and for the period required for accounting and tax purposes, normally 6 years. Wedding photographs and films are kept in my archive for a number of years in case you need further copies, and I may keep selected images for my portfolio unless you ask me not to.
Keeping your information secure
I use password-protected accounts, reputable cloud services and backups to protect your information. No method of storing or sending data is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to keep it safe.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how I use it, to ask for it to be moved to someone else, and to withdraw consent where I rely on it. To use any of these rights, email info@benhuntphotography.com. I will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
